Nikhil Mahanti is an undergraduate student pursuing a Computational Modeling and Data Analytics degree at Virginia Tech, who is set to graduate in 2028. His research focuses on applied machine learning for a variety of engineering practices. Currently, his research is focused on unsupervised segmentation and evaluation of nanowire structures in scanning electron microscopy imagery. He joined SEAD Lab in the Spring of 2026 to build automated measurement tools that reduce the manual labeling burden in nanomaterial research.
